40 Years of Innovation from RammerPublished 16/4 at 15:41
World leading hydraulic hammer brand Rammer is celebrating its 40th birthday in 2018, marking four decades of pioneering and ground breaking innovation. This anniversary has been celebrated in many ways, including a presentation of its 3000th unit at a special birthday event held in Finland.
2018 will see Rammer celebrate its 40th birthday. Established originally in Finland, it is now part of Sandvik and a renowned global brand. The growth, success and popularity of the Rammer brand has been built upon a foundation of innovation and 40 years on, the company continues to innovate. It has continued to enhance its position as a world leading hydraulic hammer brand through adding a comprehensive range of demolition attachments to its product line. At the same time, it has maintained its position as one of the world’s preferred providers of pedestal mounted breaker boom solutions.
With its familiar red and white livery, the Rammer name has become synonymous with innovation. When the company unveiled its first hydraulic hammers, it created not just a product but an entire operating principle; something the company has repeated several times over. The growth, success and popularity of the Rammer brand has been built upon foundations that have spawned countless pioneering developments that are now considered the industry norm. These include such innovations as constant blow energy, idle blow protection, attachment mounted dust suppression, automatic lubrication and remote hammer monitoring and management.
These developments helped revolutionise the operating practices of Rammer customers across the world to such a degree that the names of these innovations – Ramlube, Ramjet, Ramses – have become an integral part of the industry’s language, becoming a benchmark by which other breaker brands are judged.
Marking the 40th anniversary has seen many events. On 1 March, Sandvik held a celebration at the Lahti factory which saw the handing over of the 3000th pedestal mounted boom solution to its customer. Jaco Claassens of Rammer’s South African dealer, Hydraulic Hammers, presented the boom to the customer, Sibusiso Nkosi, of Gold Fields, South Deep Mine.
The Rammer breaker boom M550 with hydraulic hammer 2577, has been built to take heavy loads in quarrying and mining applications. The boom weight is 6.4t and has maximum reach of 7.9m; horizontal reach of 5.9m and vertical reach 5m, with a recommended hammer weight of 1–2t.
Hydraulic Hammers from Johannesburg, South Africa, has been a long term Rammer dealer, with the company being established by Peter Harrison in 1985. The M550 boom, the 3000th Rammer unit, has been supplied to Gold Fields, South Deep Mine, one of the largest gold mines in South Africa, with the world’s second largest body of gold ore.
