Demtech India 2024 to be part of bauma Conexpo India
Published 24/7 at 11:34The IDA Convention and Demtech India will return in December 2024. This time the conference and trade show will be organised in collaboration with bauma Conexpo India which will take place from 11-14 December at the Noida International Convention Centre, just outside New Delhi. IDA's Convention 2024 will be held on 13 December.
India has experienced rapid development in recent years, which is visible in many business sectors, including the demolition, recycling and concrete cutting industries. A clear sign of this was the formation of the IDA, the Indian Demolition Association, and the implementation of IDA Convention and the tradeshow, Demtech, in 2019 and 2023. Despite the pandemic forcing a hiatus for a few years, the events were a success with over 500 delegates each time attending as well as many national and international visitors. The Demtech tradeshow attracted over 50 exhibiting companies on both occasions. In 2019 the event was held in Mumbai and in 2023 in Bengaluru.
Collaboration with bauma Conexpo India 2024
The man behind both the IDA and Demtech is Mohan Ramanathan who has decades of industry experience, working both as a contractor and reseller in the Indian construction industry, in particular in demolition and recycling. Mohan is the founder and owner of Advanced Construction Technologies Pvt Ltd in Chennai. Until September, Mohan was also the chairman of IDA, but at Demtech 2023 in Bengaluru, Shriram Matte was elected as the new chairman and Fazrulla Basha as secretary. Shriram Matte is founder and owner of Indian demolition contractor Matte & Associates, Mumbai, and Fazrulla Basha is the founder and owner of Abcon Concrete Surgeons Pvt Ltd in Bengaluru.
At the meeting in Bengaluru in September 2023, it was decided that the next IDA Convention and Demtech tradeshow should be held in New Delhi at the end of 2024. Since then, discussions have been held with Messe München, and it was decided to combine Demtech with the tradeshow bauma Conexpo India 2024. The latter tradeshow is a collaboration between Messe München’s bauma and the American Equipment Manufacturers tradeshow Conexpo-Con/Agg. bauma Conexpo India 2024 will be held 11-14 December at the International Convention centre in Greater Noida, near to New Delhi.
The Demtech tradeshow will be part of bauma Conexpo India and will be housed in its own pavilion in Hall 3. Here, a large area of up to 70 stands will be available to exhibitors under the Demtech flag. The tradeshow runs for four days and on 13 December, IDA’s conference will be held in the Mezzanine above the exhibition hall itself. As usual, it will be a very busy conference programme with interesting lectures by key people in demolition, recycling and concrete cutting, etc, both from India and the rest of the world. IDA estimates that roughly 500 delegates will participate. As in 2019 and 2023, the event will be carried out in collaboration with the international industry magazine PDi Magazine and the American industry magazine PDa Magazine, which is owned by the American company Riverbends Publishing, founded by the journalist Jan Hermansson.
Continued strong development
for the Indian demolition industry
PDi Magazine recently spoke to the new management of IDA and Demtech, Shriram Matte and Fazrulla Basha, about their expectations for the 2024 IDA Convention and Demtech. “We had two great events behind us in 2019 and 2023 and we feel a great tailwind in the Indian demolition, recycling and concrete cutting sectors. India is a gigantic market with a population of just over 1.4B, and we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of entrepreneurs within the industrial sectors IDA and Demtech deal with,” says Shriram Matte. “We also notice that the number of medium sized and large contracting companies is increasing significantly and these companies are also showing a great appetite in learning more about new technology and investing in new and modern equipment. This increased interest is of course connected to the positive development and upgrading of the country’s infrastructure, industry and housing,” says Fazrulla Basha.
Both Matte and Basha agree that the Indian construction industry is unique. India is a gigantic country with great differences in terms of working methods, customs and usages, culturally and not least, linguistically. India has no less than 22 different official languages. That is why the decision was made to move the conference and the tradeshow to different places in the country such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, and now New Delhi. It is believed that it will be relevant to organise the event in other parts of the country in the future. India’s construction industry has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years and is poised to become the world’s third largest construction market within the next two to three years. According to reports, the Indian construction market is expected to reach a value of €1.3T by 2025.
“It is extremely important that IDA and Demtech are involved in meeting and supporting this growth. With this rapid rate of growth, it is extremely important that the right type of technology and equipment is implemented among the country’s contractors and that the level of knowledge among the contractors is on par with the need. The country is facing a big challenge to avoid too fast and uncontrolled growth without the right means and resources, and here IDA plays an important role in this process,” says Shriram Matte. “We have noticed the great importance that Demtech 2019 and Demtech 2023 have played in this development, but we have only come a little along the way. There is much left to do, but we feel a great response from the country’s actors in demolition, recycling and concrete cutting, and it is our responsibility as a trade organisation and organiser of the tradeshow Demtech, to convey technology and the opportunity for the right vocational training to our talented Indian entrepreneurs,” says Fazrulla Basha.
Book a place at Demtech 2024
The IDA and Demtech will be once again turning to the world’s manufacturers demolition, hydrodemolition, crushing and screening equipment for the processing of demolition debris and waste, concrete cutting, grinding and polishing of concrete floors, remediation and more, to once again impart their knowledge at the DA Convention and at the tradeshow Demtech. “As the initiator of IDA and Demtech, it is really gratifying to meet the wholehearted support we have received from the world manufacturers of this equipment to be with the Indian entrepreneurs in their determined work to develop these sectors. But we are only at the beginning of this process. There is a lot left and India is a big country. I hope to meet many international players again at the IDA Convention and the Demtech trade show in New Delhi in December 2024,” says Mohan Ramanathan.
bauma Conexpo India will be held for the seventh time in New Delhi and is today considered the largest and most important trade show for the construction industry in India. The last time the tradeshow was held it was visited by nearly 42,000 people from India and 82 other countries. Over 600 companies exhibited, of which approximately 25% were international manufacturers. The exhibition space at the Noida International Convention Centre measures just over 135,000m2. This year’s edition of bauma Conexpo India is already fully booked, except for the part set aside for Demtech, so those who wish to participate should contact IDA and Demtech as soon as possible to ensure that they can book their space.
