Komatsu’s latest demolition offering for industry professionals at bauma 2025
Published 2/4 at 13:05At bauma 2025, demolition professionals can anticipate a comprehensive showcase from Komatsu, with major focus on efficiency, innovation and optimal performance including a live demonstration of the PC390HRD-11 and K100 boom changing system.
A key highlight will be the live demonstration of the PC390HRD-11 excavator, equipped with the K100 boom change system, in the outdoor demo area outside Hall C6. Using the K100 system, the operator can change the configuration of the boom without outside help, and without getting out of the operator cab. The process is controlled through the ‘Human/Machine Interface’ (HMI) display panel, a touch screen system located in the operator cab. The K100 system allows the machine to be reconfigured to suit the different phases of the project, potentially saving the need for additional machines working on site.
Komatsu’s Working Gear product marketing manager, Simon Saunders, says: “Customers tell us that the K100 system is a game changer - the safety benefits are particularly well received. With no need to work at height or handle heavy hydraulic hoses, the machine configuration can be changed simply, even on a jobsite. We have even been told that some projects would have been impossible without the K100 system.”
The PC390HRD-11 offers three interchangeable front attachments: a digging/low height demolition boom, a 3m extension boom, and high reach demolition equipment. By combining these front attachments the machine can be configured in six different arrangements, being able to carry a 2,500kg attachment at a maximum height of 26m, a 3,350kg attachment at 23m or up to 4,000kg with the low height demolition boom at up to 15.5m.
New demolition simulator
For those who want to experience the operation of a Komatsu demolition machine, the demolition simulator inside Hall C6 offers a perfect opportunity. This provides a realistic digital training environment, allowing operators to practice boom changes and master the K100 HMI in a safe and cost effective setting. “The newest demolition simulator is a perfect addition to our simulator lineup, offering unparalleled training possibilities for Komatsu customers,” says Sarah Munsters, training manager, Komatsu Europe. “This module replicates real life jobsite scenarios with remarkable accuracy, allowing operators to practice and refine their skills in a safe and controlled environment. Next to the onsite and online training Komatsu already provides to our demolition customers, we are proud to now as well offer simulation based training in this industry.”
Komatsu ‘one stop shop’
Komatsu will also introduce a new range of demolition attachments designed for enhanced efficiency, performance, and reliability. These new attachments feature large hydraulic components for optimal oil flow and a custom made speed valve for rapid cycle times. On the mechanical side, the main areas of focus were strength and wear resistance. Exceptional performance is said to have been achieved using ‘Strenx 960’ for the main structure, Hardox for protection plates and the use of alu-bronze bushings on the main hinge.
Komatsu’s new demolition attachments
“Each attachment is available in four sizes, suitable for 15t to 70t machine class (rotating pulveriser and demolition crusher) and 16t to 60t machine class (static pulveriser),” says Bastiaan Cassiman, product manager Attachments. “The attachments provide high cutting and crushing power at all times. The attachments are designed to work their way through everything, both in primary and secondary demolition.” Komatsu says that it is simplifying the customer experience by offering a comprehensive one stop shop solution that includes both the excavator and the matching attachments. With a focus on convenience and reliability, Komatsu aims to give customers peace of mind and ease in selecting the right tools for their needs.
Featuring high quality components and easily exchangeable parts, Komatsu’s tools are designed for quick access for servicing and minimal downtime, helping customers maximise productivity. Previously Komatsu introduced sorting and demolition grapples, which have already proven to be valuable assets. With this latest launch, Komatsu continues to strengthen its offering, with more advanced attachments will be introduced over the coming year.
Note: The pulverisers are only available in Komatsu Europe sales region.
