Tyrolit launches new ATEX certified protective cabin
Published 13/9 at 08:35The globally unique certified wire saw system ATmosphères EXplosibles, abbreviated to ATEX, is the European Union explosion protection directive, which regulates compliance with the basic health and safety requirements for machines and protection systems for proper use in explosion hazardous areas. Tyrolit states that it is now the world’s only manufacturer of a wire saw system with an ATEX certification following an upgrade with a new protective cabin this autumn.
Back in 2017, Tyrolit launched the world's first ATEX certified wire sawing system, which is specially designed and approved for use in potentially explosive environments. In 2021, the system was re-certified and adapted to the latest standards. This autumn, the system will be updated once more, receiving a new protective cabin.
In addition to the Tyrolit ‘Premium SB’ wire saw and the matching ‘DWS-S’ ATEX certified saw wire for steel and non-ferrous metals, the new protective cabin for power packs now rounds off the ATEX certified system. The cabin contains connections for the Tyrolit PPH40RR drive as well as for its offshore version and has a certified remote control. The unique feature of this system is said to be that the PPH40RR and PPH40RR offshore drives are integrated and connected in the cabin after minimal conversion work. This results in compact cabin dimensions as well as being easy to transport.
In environments, where there is a risk of explosive gases (e.g. for the dismantling of oil platforms), the innovative Tyrolit wire saw system can be accurately used to cut pipes and other steel structures.
