What’s new in Dust Suppression
Published 24/7 at 11:22The latest news in regards to dust suppression cannons include MB Dustcontrol’s new SprayCannons mounted on articulated masts, a new machine from BossTek, and a diesel-powered mist cannon from Ozmist.
MB Dustcontrol releases cannons mounted on articulated masts
MB Dustcontrol BV is located in the Netherlands and specialize in the manufacturing, development and implementation of dust and odor management solutions. One of their offerings are the SprayCannon series, a complete dust suppression range including small and mobile cannons for indoor use and large models for outside purposes. After a long development and testing period, they are introducing a new series of SprayCannons mounted on articulated masts. This version will spray up to 60m, and the articulated mast has an unfolded height of 6m, according to MB Dustcontrol. There are different configurations available: a standalone version, skid-version with a generator, track mounted version on rubber tracks with a remote control and generator, and a completely self-supporting SprayCannon system mounted on a truck or water container.
MB Dustcontrol are also releasing a new container sledge model in their SprayCannon series. The 15.000l water container is a self-contained solution to be used with their medium to large sized SprayCannons, and can be transported on a truck.
Apart from new products, MB Dustcontrol has recently moved into their new headquarters. The factory is located in Sassenheim in the Netherlands, and the new facilities will help increasing the production capacity and accommodating the demand of their SprayCannon products.
New dust control cannon from BossTek
BossTek launches the dust control cannon DustBoss DB-45 Surge, which features a pressurized center nozzle, fan and misting ring system. The model has three remote-controlled stages, oscillation for command over water volume and coverage area, and jet-to-plume (J2P) nozzle technology that drives mist more than 60m, according to BossTek. The model combines a 25hp industrial fan, misting ring and barrel with a central high pressure spray nozzle. The spray resists wind shear and uses the force of the wind to fragment droplets, achieved with a maximum of 372l/m, or 77l/m when using only the misting ring and fan. The stages are managed by a touchscreen which can be specified in a sealed Nema 4 cabinet or controlled by a remote with 305m range. Stage one is for moderate days and uses the 849.5cmm fan and misting ring. For moderately windy days, stage two features a pressurized stream delivered by the J2P nozzle. On high wind days, operators can choose stage three to engage the fan, misting ring and center nozzle. Fed by a 38mm hose with a cam-and-groove quick disconnect coupling, the booster pump delivers up to 27.5bar of water pressure. The model also features a customizable 260º horizontal oscillation range and 0-50º vertical throw angle. It can run potable or non-potable water, as it is equipped with two in-line 30 mesh, 595 micron filters. Other options include tower mounting for permanent locations. The cannon is available as part of the company’s Fusion lineup, pairing the DB-45 with a trailer-mounted generator. With a 15hp booster pump, the unit only requires a 45kW generator.
Two new models from Ozmist
Australian manufacturer Ozmist are among many things known for their self-contained M45AU fog cannon. New for 2024, they are launching a diesel-powered fog/mist cannon called D45AU which joins three other variants in their 45m range. “We’ve known for a while that building a diesel unit was a high priority and something we wanted to address, with demand increasing from mining & civil projects, plus more and more interest from equipment hire companies – a good indicator also,” said Dean McDonald, director at Ozmist.
Building the cannon around the power plant, a 25kvA diesel generator fits into the frame of the unit but is also able to be removed and deployed elsewhere if needed. A high pressure pump moves 18l/min of water at 70bar through 60 stainless nozzles to create a mist for airborne contaminants.
Another new release from Ozmist is their S100AU fog cannon. As its name suggests, it offers a reach of 100m delivered from a 18.5kW fan, according to Ozmist. It moves a constant 35l/min of water, and sends out a cloud of droplets thanks to a Comet high pressure pump, again at 70bar. Features consistent across the Ozmist range include 100m remote control and adjustable oscillation to 330°.
Dust control with HPW-Dust in Uppsala
The Dynaset HPW-Dust high pressure dust suppression system has been used in a demolition project in the historical city of Uppsala in Sweden. The project posed unique challenges due to Uppsala’s dense population, rich history, and close proximity to sensitive ecological zones. These conditions required dust control measures to protect residents, local fauna and historical sites from airborne particles. Normans AB, a Swedish demolition company, selected the HPW-Dust from the dealer Amas Svenska AB. The system creates a fine mist that binds and settles airborne dust particles, reducing the amount of dust that escapes into the environment. The system operates by converting the hydraulic power of a machine into high-pressure water for dust suppression. Its design allows for integration with various machinery. According to Dynaset themselves, HPW-Dust’s water consumption is low, and its mist can prove superior in capturing fine dust particles compared to traditional methods like sprinklers.
New Stone mistblowers from Tifone
Tifone releases a new dust suppression cannon which, although not directly connected to demolition, is worth mentioning. The new Stone mistblower, which comes in the two versions Stone City and Stone Big, are designed for sanitation, pesticide, disinfection and disinfestation treatments with biocides for the defense of the urban and non-urban environment, including public and private green areas. Stone City is suited for installation on pick-up trucks and daily treatments where a wide range is required; Stone Big is ideal for treatments in large areas. The Stone mistblower includes a Stage V engine, an app with which the user can control different functions, and the possibility of connecting the machine to additional tanks of up to 3000l.
Duztech, Raincanon files for bankruptcy
The dust suppression cannon manufacturer Duztech has filed for bankruptcy. Duztech developed and manufactured both fixed and mobile dust suppression systems for the construction and demolition industry worldwide, and also offered specialized cannons for fighting wildfires under the brand name Raincanon. Duztech was founded in 2009 and had its headquarters in Östersund in the north of Sweden. The bankruptcy was initiated in February.
