As my second year as EDA President goes by, I am thrilled to reflect on the success of this year’s EDA Annual Convention held in Belgrade.
From June 12th to June 15th, the Serbian capital became a bustling hub for the demolition industry. Over 200 guests from across the globe came together to share insights and innovations in demolition, decontamination, and recycling.
Organizing this convention was a significant endeavor. Yet, the efforts were well worth it, culminating in a seamless and engaging event. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the Serbian Demolition Association (SDA), our co-organizer. Their expertise, commitment, and collaboration were invaluable in ensuring the convention’s success.
The convention featured a range of workshops, conferences, and round tables, all well-attended and highly engaging. Exhibitors showcased their creativity and innovation, creating an inspiring space that fostered networking and collaboration.
All these conferences helped us understand some useful insights about the industry, such as the significant effort being made to reduce its carbon footprint and the strong push for the full recyclability of raw materials produced. The data collected about the CO2 carbon footprint is evaluated “back-to-back” with the positive environmental balance and the saving of natural resources achieved from recycling steel, concrete debris, wood, plastic, and glass.
The convention’s goal was to gather professionals to discuss these critical themes, reinforcing its position as a catalyst for positive environmental change and the promotion of a circular economy.
Throughout the convention, the atmosphere was one of enthusiasm and camaraderie. A special thanks to our 24 sponsors whose generous support made this event possible. Their contributions were instrumental in creating a memorable and impactful convention, and we deeply appreciate their dedication to our industry. Each sponsor brought unique value, enhancing the overall experience for all attendees.
To close a wonderful encounter with colleagues from all around the world, we had the Gala Dinner at the magnificent White Palace in Belgrade. The evening was a perfect blend of elegance and cultural richness, with performances by traditional dancers and musicians that brought the spirit of Serbian heritage to life.
While the future is always uncertain, one thing remains clear: the EDA’s commitment to its mission and the dedication of its members is unwavering. We look forward to continuing our work, fostering dialogue, and building lasting connections in the years to come.
