Words from the IACDS President: Three and a half different but exciting years

Published 3/10, 2022 at 10:09

It started at bauma and it will end at bauma. It was three and a half years ago at bauma when I was elected president of the IACDS. And now, three and a half years later, the presidentship of the IACDS will get a new face.

It has been a good time. In those years we have had to deal with a lot of problems that actually had little to do with our original goals. For me, the focus of the work has always been communication and the preservation of knowledge of the industry. But Covid-19 has changed the planned timetable. We had to rethink. But we used the time and, for us, introduced new communication methods.

We have been offering webinars on various topics from the drilling and sawing industry since 2021. The speakers have been specialists in their respective fields. At this point I would like to thank all the speakers for their support, without which this series would not have been possible.

Once again we have successfully carried out the structure survey. This allows us to document the development of the drilling and sawing industry in an international context and to identify our own position. And something I'm particularly pleased about is that we're getting a lot of encouragement and extremely positive feedback for our yearbook.

Once again the yearbook offers our partners and members the opportunity to represent themselves regarding diverse topics. This year it will be published for the third time and one focus will be on education and training. One of the most important topics in our industry is the training and further education of our employees. I cannot point out often enough that the quality of our work and the public perception of our industry depends to a large extent on the quality of our employees.

This greeting will be the last that I may address to you at this point. After three and a half years, my tenure at bauma ends. The new president will be elected at the annual general meeting, which will take place on 27 October, 2022 as part of bauma. Our colleague from the CSDA, Douglas Walker, has been nominated.

I would like to thank my colleagues from the board of directors of the IACDS and the office in Madrid for their excellent cooperation even under the most difficult of conditions.

I hope to meet you at bauma.
