As the year is winding down, the time has come to sum up some of its results. After almost two years of an ongoing standoff, the global economy is beginning to feel negative effects. A recession is showing signs of setting in, and the outlook for the upcoming year looks rather bleak. Still, we at PDi are hoping for the best. Below is a report by Andrei Bushmarin on the latest innovations in the diamond tool industry.
To put a figure or a value on the global and professional concrete cutting industry is almost impossible, although PDi has for many years, with help from the IACDS, tried it. Recently however we have received some updates from some markets, and despite pandemic, war and recession in many parts of the world, we’ve had another go at estimating the size of this important industry sector.
In a tightly scheduled project in the summer of 2023, the runway at Ingolstadt Manching Airport was grooved for increased safety. The aim was to improve the drainage of rainwater by grinding new grooves, and to thus prevent aquaplaning. In the project, the new PC1505XL grinder and groover from the Tyrolit subsidiary Diamond Products successfully celebrated its European debut.
Here’s the latest news in terms of new demolition robots. The two major developments are that Husqvarna is widening its range by launching the ‘DXR 95’ robot and that the Polish manufacturer, Elgo-Plus, has released the ‘Springer Eco’ robot.
Julie White, the managing director of D-Drill & Sawing, and Lee Thomas, managing director of Aesthetics Events Staff, have become the co-chairs of the Coventry & Warwickshire Children’s Charity. The charity has since 1996 raised more than €3.5M for local children who have suffered from physical, mental or sexual abuse.
Epiroc has agreed to acquire Stanley Infrastructure from Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. The strategic acquisition will strengthen Epiroc's presence in the attachments business in infrastructure and construction, especially in the United States.
