Words from the IACDS President: A year of hard work and dedication to the industry

As we look back on the events and initiatives of 2023, it is evident that for the IACDS 2023 has been marked by hard work, collaborations, and the pursuit of excellence within the concrete drilling and cutting industry.

The highlight of the year was undoubtedly the IACDS Annual Convention 2023, held in one of the most memorable cities of Europe, Venice. The convention brought together industry professionals from around the world to discuss the latest advancements, share best practices, and explore innovative solutions. The beautiful backdrop of Venice served as a fitting setting for the exchange of ideas and knowledge, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among participants.

A notable achievement in 2023 was the release of the ‘Guide on safe use of diamond segmented tools’. Created in collaboration with the FEPA, we worked diligently to compile a comprehensive guide that serves as a valuable resource for industry professionals.

This guide not only outlines best practices for the safe use of diamond segmented tools but also emphasises the importance of training and adherence to safety standards. By promoting a culture of safety, IACDS aims to contribute to a reduction in accidents and incidents within the industry, ensuring the wellbeing of workers and the integrity of projects.

On the other hand, our latest publication, the IACDS Yearbook 2023 stands as a testament to the association's dedication to documenting and disseminating knowledge within the concrete cutting and demolition sector. By compiling experience and knowledge of multiple national associations from all around the world, it helps to paint a complete picture of the most prominent topics within the sector, thus promoting debate and discussion amongst fellow professionals.

As the year comes to a close, the IACDS can look back with pride at the achievements and milestones reached in 2023. Our main goal going forward is not only to keep up the good work but to expand it further, making the industry a better place for those within it.

As the president of the association, I would like to extend my congratulations and gratitude to all the colleagues that were involved in IACDS throughout this year. Your sincere passion for the sector is what really keeps us going. We hope you enjoy the holidays, and we’ll see you very soon at the IACDS meeting and networking event 2024, in Las Vegas, on 24 January!
